Francisco Damiani is a former Uruguayan professional boxer, born on March 4th, 1961 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He competed in the heavyweight division and is considered one of the most successful South American boxers of all time.

In 1983, Damiani turned pro and had a successful career, winning 43 fights with 31 knockouts and losing only two fights. He won the WBA (World Boxing Association) World Heavyweight title in 1989 by defeating Tony Tubbs in Las Vegas, becoming the first Uruguayan to win a world boxing championship.

Damiani retired from professional boxing in 1997 with a record of 43 wins, 2 losses, and 31 knockouts. After retirement, he became a boxing promoter, putting on many successful events in Uruguay and Latin America. He was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 2010.
